If you were to take a wander up and down our aisles of storage units with access to each one, you would see a huge variety of things. From office chairs in one, to plumbers parts in another, and nothing but Tupperware in the next (just in case you were wondering where all of yours went). And no, we haven’t taken a peek (your stuff is your own private concern), but we have been in this business long enough to understand that results can vary, and that people utilize units for any number of reasons (the above are a creative indulgence based on historic precedence only ;)). But what has given rise to this strange array, as well as to the sheer number of storage facilities and units available? Well, people (and increasingly businesses – some 70% of America’s storage facilities are business filled) snap them up for a few economically astute reasons:
- Rapidly rising rental prices mean people are downsizing and then desperately seeking a place to keep their important stuff that they can’t part with (from office supplies to personal items) safe without having to take out a loan to do so.
- The side hustle culture. In order to survive, many people these days explore second jobs, generally in the e-commerce space – to succeed, they need safe and affordable space to keep their inventory, once they run out of space on their dining room table (that should be saved for important things anyway, like jigsaws, obviously).
- Finally space itself is a big factor. There isn’t enough of it out there – in homes or offices, which means people need to find some in other places, like our facilities.
