We gently transitioned into winter about a week ago, which means *checks calendar* we will gently be transitioning out in about 8 and ¾ days. Yeah, the seasons in KZN don’t really hit in the same way as other places, anywhere, do they – we’re mostly dealing with sun for 11 months of the year. How hard life is, honestly. That said, there are still good times to make a move and for us, that’s spring easing into summer. Why? Mild but dry weather (because we don’t want your granny’s handwoven couch cover getting rained on… probably).
So, now that you have locked in a moving window for your stuff. May we suggest you spring for a small lock up and go, while you’re at it?
At Storage City you can rent out a unit (there are varying sizes available, dependent on your needs) for as long or as short as you would like. This makes us an ideal option for people that are moving.
Stuffing stuff in storage is a good idea because:
- You can start to move items out of your current home in advance – using Storage City as a staging space for various things. This means you have less to worry about on actual move day.
- When you have less to move on move day, costs come down from the professional movers.
- It means the stuff that is particularly NB to you or fragile, is safe.
- It’s a way to store content that may find another home in future. (If it’s going to be sold on, why move it into your new space at all?)
- Maybe you are downsizing and simply don’t have the space to move ALL your stuff into your new home with you – but you would like to keep it safe for future. We volunteer as tribute.
For maximum peace of mind. Do the following:
- Label boxes clearly.
- Keep an inventory of what is making the move into storage.
- Leave an aisle to make finding your stuff easy when you need it.
- Cover furniture, but if possible consider disassembling.
- Keep the most NB stuff that you will likely need most frequently, at the front.

18m2 – a 3 bed home
36m2 – fits your family home, so you may move the whole thing in. (But yes, you have to keep all
your people).
